Types of bass amplifiers and how to choose one
Bass Amplifiers
An electric bass cannot be used in a band unless its sound is amplified.
This “sound amplification device” is called an “amplifier(amp).
※A cable is also necessary to produce sound through an amp.
Amplifier Functions
The “Amplifier Functions” are
・Volume adjustment
・Equalizing (adjusting the frequency of sound)
・Effecting(change )
The amp has knobs for each of these functions & attached to the amplifier.
Note that if “INPUT LEVEL” and “MASTER VOL” are attached, both must be turned up to produce sound.
Some amps don’t have an “effects” feature, so check before you get!
Amplifier Type
There are several types of amplifiers.

・Consists of a head amp and a cabinet (speaker).
・Use in gig houses and studios.
・It is possible to combine different makes of amps.
・Often large (heavy)

Some people take only the head amp part to live gigs.

・Small and medium size amps (lightweight)
・Easy to carry
I recommend the combo type for home use.
It’s small, so it doesn’t take up much space.
・There are separate type and combo type.
・Amplifiers are equipped with functions such as volume, equalizer, and effects.
・Amplifiers for home practice are recommended to be “small and combo type“
・Medium sized amps are transported by “Magna Cart” (to be introduced later)
