How to choose bass strings

①Strings Material~Nickel & Stainless~
What you should know that 2 types of materials.
【Nickel】
This material is usually used.
Standard sound♪
【Stainless】
It is rough to the touch compared to nickel.
Brighter sound♪
Look at package mentions.

Others include alloy materials and black nylon, but just remember two materials to start with!
When slapping, I prefer the “stainless steel” sound.
②Bass Strings Construction~Round wound, Flat wound & Half wound~
Difference in touch.
The feel of the strings influences your playing.
Round Wound
This is the standard of bass string construction.

・Bright sound
Flat Wound
【Features】
・Smooth to touch
・Mild sound
・Often strung on fretless bass
Half Wound
【Features】
・Round Wound with the surface of the strings shaved
・Smoother than Round Wound
・Rougher to touch than Flat Wound
Standard is “Round Wound”
③Gauge(thickness)
For 4-string bass is

1st string is the thinnest.
4th string is the thickest.
Mention by number(Unit is inches)
↓
【Regular gauge(Medium gauge)】”45・65・85・105″
【Light gauge】”40・60・80・100″
【Heavy gauge】”50・70・85(90)・105(110)”
There are many combinations.
Gauges are different from product to product.
I would like to find good one that I can use and get used to.
When in doubt, just go with “Medium gauge!”
Also available for single strings sold in pieces
Musical stores sell strings in pieces.
Only one string can be changed.
